Egypt Has a New Dictator
The NYT article linked below takes on the air of child-like wonder when the author seems to ponder how it is that the "young, educated secular activists who initially propelled the non-ideological revolution are no longer the driving political force"
DUH!
RPR and most other rational, intelligent observers noted the Muslim Brotherhood was the only organization truly prepared to assume the mantle of power in a post-Mubarak Egypt, and that, it appears, is exactly what's happening. Despite the crying and wailing, secular Egyptians are doomed to loose this fight. The Egyptians do not, and have never had, a culture of Liberty. I have no idea what the concept means based on the hysterical and continuous call for Democracy which is not but mob rule. The wrong ideology, as always, is the problem.
So will Egypt become an Islamist State? My guess is probably so. In a recent referendum, the religious side took 77% of the vote! Certainly not a good sign for the development of a constitutional republic any time soon. But why now you may ask? Israel of course! The Obama administration hates Israel almost as much as they hate America. By destroying the Mubarak regime, Obama opens the door for committed fanatics to openly pursue an anti-Israel policy if not outright warfare. Even conducting such a policy reduces American influence in the region, and further weakens American directly. And the perfect candidate to accomplish the task: The Muslim Brotherhood.
Here is the most telling quote:
Mr. Erian, the spokesman, said in an interview. “We are keen to spread our ideas and our values,” he said. “We are not keen for power.”
In other words, The Muslim Brotherhood wants, like most criminals, willing victims. If people don't adopt those ideas and values, they certainly aren't above cracking skulls.
