In a ruling that displays a powerful amount of cognitive dissonance, a federal appeals court has overturned the Michigan Civil Rights Initiative. Also called Proposal 2, this became part of Michigan's state constitution in 2006.
The law was passed to ensure that the government, along with government run schools, would have to be explicitly color-blind with any decision they made. In short, they would have to judge people by the content of their character not the color of their skin.
The Sixth Circuit Court ruled that policy was racist.
People keep claiming that Islam is a religion of peace. George Bush said it. President Obama has been quietly helping the strongly Islamic "Arab Spring". He has repeated pushed Israel to make concessions to Palestinian terrorists.
America has gone out of its way to repeatedly deny being at war with Islam. Sure, we are currently fighting in 4 Islamic countries, but those countries are run by tyrants who have "hijacked" a great and wonderful religion. That's the official party line anyway.
I found this link at Patterico's Pontifications talking about Time magazine's recent piece on the constitution. Time made at least 13 errors about the constitution, and I have to believe this is agenda based and not just sloppy scholarship. Check it out.
This shouldn't surprise any of you who have been following Illinois' fiscal woes. We previously reported about how they were raising taxes to try and cover their massive budget shortfall.
Predictably, businesses left, downsized, or decided not to expand their business in Illinois. So, they efforts were of course doomed to failure. It's simply too easy to move and avoid the burden of taxation. There is precious little incentive for the producers to shoulder the burden of wasteful spending.
That scheme failed and Illinois, bastion of corrupt leftist politics that it is, still refuses to reduce spending.
In a history making event, Ron Paul R-TX and Barney Frank D-MA (there's an odd couple if ever I heard of one) have introduced a bill to end the federal ban on marijuana. Marijuana prohibition has been a part of our country since 1936. The only observable effects the law has had are ruining lives, created a massive boon for the prison industry, and ensuring that a thriving and violent black market is created.
Well, that and a ceaseless encroachment on our liberties.

Alex Epstein is the host of the Power Hour Podcast. Check out this great interview talking about our nation's energy crisis caused by our flawed energy policy. We talk about alternative energy, and ask the question: Is it a viable substitute for coal or nuclear? Speaking of nuclear power is it the boogie man it's made out to be? Is every reactor a potential Chernobyl or worse?
Is man made global warming a threat? Are environmentalists really basing their predictions on honest science? Tune in to find out all of this and more.

If you think politics is just a game, this podcast is going to show just how much the politicians in Washington D.C. affects our lives. The FDA has the literal power of life and death over people that need access to medicine. Un-elected and un-accountable bureaucrats can decide to allow or prohibit medical care in a process that is anything but transparent. Listen in to hear about the ordeal that Terry Kalley is going through.

There's lots of good news for this week. The 10th amendment is making strides. Individuals now have standing to sue the federal government for overstepping its constitutional bounds. Obama holds a secretive golf summit. So much for his promised transparency. The senate votes to eliminate ethanol subsidies. It's about time!

Part of the justification for Obamacare was that it would save the government money. It was hard to believe then, and it's impossible to believe now.
Nonetheless, it was part of the pack of lies used to sell this bill to the American people. Don't believe me? Just watch what Nancy Pelosi had to say.
